Carole Matthews

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our strong and devoted mother, Carole Matthews (MacLeod). Carole and her beloved Bruce MacLeod (1968) were reunited on February 4, 2022. She leaves behind her children Valerie Ainsley, Craig MacLeod and Laurie MacLeod.
Born in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Carole and Bruce spent many years living on the farm while their children were little. Following Bruce's death, Carole and the children moved to the city and Carole began to work at John Coutts library service. She was also a secretary at Thorold High School before becoming a customer service representative at Royal Bank of Canada where she worked until her retirement.
Deeply cherished and adored Gram and Great-Gram to: Christopher (Heather), Brandon (Niki), Sarah, Matthew, Samarah, Quinn, Eden, Logan and Naya, survived by brother Horace "Scope" Russell and sister-in-law Florence MacLeod. Carole leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Flower lover, gardening enthusiast, bird watcher, teacher, natural nurturer, the best baker, patient and so giving. Carole was generous with her time, she offered many hours volunteering at the Cornation Centre (she loved the exercise program). She enjoyed reading, knitting and being in nature, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
In keeping with Carole's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a celebration of Carole's life in the spring, her favourite season.
