It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Gordon Landon on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 87. Gordon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Therese (nee Drouin) and his children Anne (Peter), Garry (Donna), Michael (Anita) and Ron (Susan). He is also survived by his seven grandchildren Norman, Steven, Ashley (Derek), Christina, Kristen (Phil), Kyle (Malissa) and Colin and by his sister Effie. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Clara (nee Coughlin), brothers Wesley, Norman, Lawrence, Clifford, Tommy and sisters Ethel, Jean, and Joan. Gordon was born in Ramore, Ontario, on March 6, 1934, in the railroad section house. A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793, for 57 years, he worked construction as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement from Ontario Hydro. As a child he grew up on the family farm and as a young man he worked in lumber camps, had a trucking business in partnership with his brother, and was also employed by the RCAF base in Ramore. After relocating to Niagara Falls, he worked for Unit Rig for 15 years. He was a man of many talents. The family wishes to thank the many PSWs from Care Partners and March of Dimes who helped with his daily care. And we wish to also express our gratitude to Dr. Dec and his staff for the excellent and ongoing care they provided for Gordon. As a result of a stroke, Gordon spent many hours in the rehab at Hotel Dieu Shaver with the compassionate and caring therapists who helped him with recovery. He was a positive, optimistic man who had a great sense of humour. He had a strong bond with the Lessard family and enjoyed a close friendship with his neighbors. Gordon was kind-hearted and loved square dancing and bowling. He spent many hours doing crosswords and word scrambles. And he was always eager to help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved to travel (driving for hours). He often said he was born with a steering wheel in his hands! Cremation has taken place and a private family funeral will occur at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to Hotel Dieu Shaver or to the Heart and Stroke unit at Greater Niagara General Hospital. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at
