David BISSELL Obituary
Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital (Burlington), with family by his side. Predeceased by his parents: Marjory (Dowsley) and Ray H. Bissell; and sister, Diana (Bissell) Wilson. Dear brother of Barbara (Bissell) Brock. Survived by nephews: Geoffrey Brock (Karen), Ian Brock (Betty), and six nieces and nephews and their partners. Retired from a long career with Coutts Library Services Ltd.. A lifelong bachelor, Dave devoted his time to his many passions. A long-time member of the Track Niagara, he was a talented golfer and tennis player. Dave travelled widely as a birder, developed interesting theories on multiple issues and was a great storyteller. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed winters in Vero Beach, Florida. Parkinson's disease took its toll, though frustrated, Dave never gave up being active. In honouring David's wishes cremation has taken place. Interment in Brockville at a later date. I knew Dave from playing tennis at our local club in Vero Beach Fl. I was his tennis partner on our Interclub Tennis Team. Dave was a great competitor but never took himself or the game too seriously. I nicknamed
Dave "The Bird Man" because of his knowledge and interest in birds. The tennis players in our group at Twin Oaks will miss The Bird Man. Dave was a pleasure to know and we always kept in touch by email.

Such a non -pretentious person you'd ever meet. Great story teller,very quick wit and well grounded. Dave was generous with his time. I could always count on Dave to send some thought provoking e-mail or some humorous quip. Mr. Science, you will be missed. Love ya.

Enjoyed many times running, golfing, camping and just being with Dave. Never one to say a negative thing about anyone or anything. Will always remember his chuckle-laugh.

I have many fond memories of Dave from my many years in Track Niagara. Dave introduced me to bird watching in my teens and I remember playing tennis with him and barely ever winning a game but he always made it fun.
