David Curko Obituary

Passed away suddenly at his home in Kitchener on Monday, June 27, 2022, in his 66th year. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Ventresca (Dominic), his nephews Christian Ventresca (Jackie) and Matt Ventresca (Katie Hemsworth), his great-nephew Jackson and great-niece Alessandra. Predeceased by his father Nick Curko (2021) and mother Anne (1978, nee Alakas). He had the good fortune of being the nephew of many loving Alakas and Curko aunts and uncles and would travel from Kitchener to attend the traditional Alakas Christmas gathering in Welland, where he would also enjoy the company of his many cousins. David was born in Welland, graduated from Centennial High School and Trent University in Peterborough. He developed a long and successful career in sales for Ontario Glove and Safety in Kitchener where he was known as a dedicated member of the company. He was also a highly regarded president of the condominium board where he lived and was known for his interest in raising the standards of maintenance of the building and grounds. One of his favourite things was to travel to Cuba for winter vacations where he enjoyed the beaches and exploring the local cities and villages. Funeral and burial have been arranged with the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home in Welland. A private family service will be held, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

We were so deeply saddened by the news of David's passing. David was such a great asset to our Condo building as an owner and a board member for many years. It will not be the same without him. You are missed.

Dear Family and Friends,

My and my husband's sincere condolences for David Curko's family and friends at this difficult time.

Like most of my colleagues, I (Liana) worked with David for 23 years... lots of  memories along the way. ...and so much to share about him.

Our work relationship was very tight in some business aspects.. and I ,personally, appreciated David's enthusiasm and no hesitation to offer his help; he was always listening with patience and understanding that when it was good, it was  wonderful, when it was bad, it was experience.

Remembering many conversations with David about his vacations in Caribbean Islands, about people and historical  information that have captured and made him returned over and over; always thoughts about traveling to Europe (including a visit to Hungary) at the right moment... that actually... never came... So, so sad....

David, you left us suddenly and so early in your life!  You will be very much missed and you will always stay in our hearts.
Farewell dear David!

Since we were kids, I always admired David's curiosity about the world. He was the only one in my family that could challenge my dad Joe in the best way possible. And if you knew my Dad, that was no small feat. I'm happy to know that throughout his life, David continued to challenge the status quo and stayed curious about the world. I will miss him and I send all my love to the family.
