Don D'Innocenzo Obituary

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don D'Innocenzo on Tuesday, September 14, 2021; a loving husband, father, and nonno. Don is survived by his wife Diane of 47 years married and 50 years together, his son Kevin (Agata), daughters Juliana and Laura (Claudio), his grandchildren Isabella, Reese, Matteo, and soon to be Sarah, and his furry little friend Maisey. He is predeceased by his parents Donato and Lucia, and siblings Edda, Galeazzi, Giuseppe (Joe) D'Innocenzo, Angelina (Lina) DiCarmine, Vittoria (Italia) Canulli, Belarmino (Mino) D'Innocenzo, and Rita Sciarra. He will be greatly missed by his sister Giovanna (Vanna) Olivieri in Italy.

Don was a gentle man with a strong presence. He was a great communicator, a pillar of strength who always gave solid advice, a shoulder to lean on, and a jokester. He had the ability to brighten any room with his presence. Don always knew the right thing to say in any situation. In his younger years, Don loved to play soccer as well as sing in the Coro Folcloristico and The Continentals band. He was a handy man who could build anything when needed. He had a passion for his family, cooking, and for travel. Don was all these things and so much more to his loved ones. Words cannot begin to describe his impact and the devastation his passing left behind. He absolutely adored and was adored by his grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at JJ Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland, Monday, September 20, 2021 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. In keeping with current Covid-19 Provincial Restrictions, capacity is limited within the funeral home. Dear Diane and Family, we offer our condolences and are saddened by Don's passing. I grew up on Beatrice Street and Don was a good friend and schoolmate of mine. We played soccer at Plymouth Park together and Don was always happy and smiling, he was just a great guy and fun to be with. May the many wonderful memories help you through this difficult time and may Don Rest In peace.

Sincere condolences to Don’s family. I knew Don so many years ago as a teenager. We shared a love for the beach, and later for travels to tropical places. Enjoy your sand hills my friend.

Dear Aunt Diane and cousins Kevin, Juliana and Laura,

We are so very sorry to hear about Uncle Don. Reading his beautiful tribute brought back memories -- of him singing so happily with the choir and the band and how he and his siblings enjoyed sitting around Nonno’s little table drinking that espresso coffee that seemed to never run out, ever.

Know that our dad is now looking after his little brother. He was always so proud of him.

Our thoughts are with you at such a sad time.
