Doug MacKay Obituary

It is with a heavy heart our family has to say goodbye to a great man after a very long illness with Alzheimer's. Norma, his dedicated wife and friend bids a peaceful goodbye. Doug will be missed by his son Dan (Anna), daughter Kim (Craig) and brother Don and family. Doug is predeceased by Don's wife Norma and Doug's older brother Bruce. He will also be missed by grandchildren Brandon (Mel), Graham (Kate), Alexis (Ty), Jessica (Mike) along with great-grandchildren Chloe, MacKenzie, Jase, Byron and Boyd. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Linhaven who took care of Doug over the years. Specific thanks to Marta who went above and beyond the duties of her job while caring for him.
A special thankyou to the Friends of Linhaven and the Tuck Shop staff. You all became our friends.
Doug was blessed with two enjoyable occupations. He completed his Sheet Metal Mechanic Apprenticeship in 1957 and worked at his trade until 1970. He then started a new career as an Industrial Training Consultant with the Ministry of Apprenticeship Training Branch until his retirement in 1994.
As per Doug's request, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to a visitation at Butler Funeral Home, 424 Niagara Street, St Catharines on Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Doug will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.
