Doug Nielsen

After a long battle with diabetes, we regretfully announce the passing of Doug on February 22, 2022, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Donna for 55 years. His larger-than-life personality will be forever missed by his sons Stuart (Rina) and Scott (Jaime). Pops and best buddy to his grandson Erik. His memory will also forever be cherished by his step grandchildren. Doug lived a full and vibrant life and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brother to Robert (Sheila), Cameron Jr. (Linda), and Carl. Predeceased by his mother Anne Bimm and father Elmar Nielsen. Whatever Doug did in his life he did passionately. He explored different interests throughout his life including riding motorcycles, teaching, photography, computers, and model trains. Doug's family would like to thank all the health care workers over the last 5 years who have kept him with us as long as they did. In lieu of flowers Doug's family requests that donations be made to Diabetes Canada. A funeral service in Doug's honour will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in the chapel at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Highway - off the corner of Highway 20) at 1 p.m. In keeping with COVID regulations capacity is limited within the funeral home and social distancing must be maintained.
