Eileen MOORMAN Obituary

It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to our Mom and Nana on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Mom is now at peace in her heavenly home and reunited with her husband August (2013).
She will be sadly missed by her children Tammy & Dave Groetelaars and Dwayne & Amanda Moormann. Proud Nana to Kaitlyn, Kyle, Christian, Jack and Eli. She shared a special sister like bond with her cousin, Mabel Dekker. Sister-in-law of Hedy Pierce (late Fred), Joe and Jeanette Moormann, Gertrude and Paul Sutton, and Dave and Yvonne Larmour. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Gordon Hoto.
Eileen was born on April 16, 1932 to the late Julia and Russell Michael and raised in Sherkston before moving to Port Colborne. She became a country girl when she met August in 1962 and moved to Wainfleet. She worked for many years at Leon's Furniture store in the accounting department until her children were born. She then supported August's passion for farming and they operated a successful vegetable farm on Highway 3 for many years. Mom loved having her kids and grandkids for family dinners where she cooked lots of delicious meals from the produce in the gardens.
Eileen was a dedicated and community minded person serving in several organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society and Wainfleet Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. She was such a great neighbor by driving them to appointments or just simply visiting every week. Eileen was a lifetime faithful member of St Peter's Lutheran Church in Port Colborne.
Mom moved into Portal Village in Port Colborne in 2012, leaving behind the family home that she and August built in Wainfleet 50 years earlier. She enjoyed playing euchre and bingo, always saving the chocolate bars she won for her family when we visited. Eileen loved her second family and said she never imagined she would have been so lucky to live in a place like that. A very big thank you to all the staff at Portal Village for their care, compassion, and kindness.
Eileen's family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow in the Armstrong Chapel at 1 pm. Burial will follow the service at Maple Lawn Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Although we miss our Mom and Nana immensely, her strength and determination to face all life challenges has been instilled in us forever.

Deepest Sympathy to all of Eileen's family and to her close cousin Mabel Dekker. Our mother Doris Pirson was a close cousin to Eileen and they enjoyed frequent visits. Eileen was a lovely person who gave to her Community and had many lifelong friends. She will be missed. May she rest in God's Peace.
