Ferdinando "Fred" PORTA

PORTA, Ferdinando 'Fred' Passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 80, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 60 years to Norma Porta (Sider). Dearly loved father of Mark (Joanne) Porta, Rick (Colette) Porta and Kathy (Marcel) Pouliot-Barry. Predeceased by his brother Bruno of Niagara Falls. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his surviving brother Nino and sister Nella in Agordo, Italy. Fred was active in the Senior Pond Hockey, Chippawa 'No Hit' League, Legion Baseball League, and enjoyed golfing, downhill skiing, bocce ball, darts and beach volleyball. He was an avid gardener, a winemaker and a great cook. Fred originally immigrated from Agordo, Italy at age 16 and worked at Kerrio Germano Construction, then started Fred Porta Construction, performing many home repairs throughout Niagara Falls until his retirement in 2000. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME , 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, visiting Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
