Fernand POITRAS Obituary

POITRAS, Fernand David The family of Fernand Poitras sadly announces that he passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 9, 2018 at the age of 87 at the Hull Hospital in Gatineau, Quebec. He was a resident of La Maison Bruyere in Aylmer, PQ. Fernand was a longtime resident of Port Colborne until his retirement from Union Carbide, Welland in 1985. He lived, fished, hunted and trapped in Val des Bois, PQ until 2016. Among his many hobbies, he crafted cedar-strip canoes, duck decoys, hunting knives and custom gun stocks. He is survived by his wife Theresa, son Daniel (Deborah), daughter Suzanne Bysterbosch (Terry), grandchildren Casey Fleming, Chad Fleming (Alyssa), great-grandchildren Sarah, Joshua, Desiree, Paige, Ethan, Elliott and Emerson, sisters Erma Noiles, Fernande Thibault, brothers Jacques and Robert, many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will take place at Notre Dame de la Garde Cemetery in Val des Bois, PQ on Monday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Fund.
