FRANK VALENTINE ORSON

Peacefully on Sunday September 18, 2022, at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 98th year, surrounded by his son Jeff, daughter-in-law Suzanne Gill, and grandson Christian Orson (wife Jenn and great-grandson Miles). Frank was predeceased by his much beloved wife Shirley (2001), and his son George (2022). Frank will also be missed by his nieces Michele and Nadine and their partners in the UK, and his friends. Frank was a fisherman and a philosopher, and a fighter when it came to cancer. He immigrated to Canada from Birmingham, England in 1947, working across Canada before settling in Niagara Falls. Prior to moving into a retirement home in 2019, Frank lived in his little white house, which he built on Thorold Stone Road in 1950 with his wife Shirley. Gardening, Eastern philosophy, and watching British mysteries were favourite pastimes, only surpassed by his love of angling. Frank loved nothing more than to spend time on the Niagara River and Lake Erie with fishing partners (including Sandy Goodman) or on his own. Family fishing holidays occurred while his sons were growing up. Frank's last trip was with his son Jeff and his grandson Chris, catching salmon on Lake Ontario at the young age of 97 in September 2021.The family would like to thank the staff of the Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Home in Thorold where Frank resided for the last 3 years, as well as to the staff on floor 3A at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their support when he was admitted after a fall in early September. At his request, Frank will have a private family service with cremation to follow. Arrangements entrusted to the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold, Ontario.
