It is with heavy hearts and precious memories that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Geza Pokol, on April 11, 2023 in his 95th year ending his struggle at Northland Pointe LTC. Dad is now at peace and pain free, reunited with his beloved wife Sophie (2020). Geza is survived by his children Karen Dalton (Dennis), Bonnie Sipos (David), and Gaye Pokol (Heather) and his grandchildren Tyler Sipos (Julia Nemcko), Jessie Dalton, Ben Pokol (Elizabeth Kyer), Jamie Dalton, Jennifer Selvig (Drew Ferguson), and Brittany Snihur (Markian) who affectionately called him "Pa". Proud great grandpa of Eli Pokol, Scarlett and Grayson Snihur and Sebastian Sipos. Geza will be sadly missed by his much-loved sister Lillian Majersky and brother Julius Pokol, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his infant grandson Dexter Pokol, his brother Louis, brothers-in-law Geza Majersky, Ken Moser and Sophie's siblings Mary Wiznoski, Mike Labeau, Steve Labeau and Dorothy Rosnuk and their spouses.
Geza was a very hard working, intelligent man and had a long successful career at Stelco (Page Hersey and Welland Tubes) retiring as Superintendent. He enjoyed a long retirement with Sophie allowing them to travel and enjoy weekends away and Saturday night dinners out with friends. He loved music, sports, his wine and cooking especially his famous pea soup and chili. Geza reveled in watching and guiding his children and grandchildren grow to adulthood and in being a very important part of their lives. Geza's greatest joy was his family and times spent together. He was a very kind and generous man who gave back to the community.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME. In memory of Geza donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Welland Food Bank or
Charity of Your Choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. You are invited to share valued memories and condolences on-line at
