Glenford DOW Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Glenford (Glen) Lloyd Dow on July 11, 2021 peacefully at home 3 days before his 87th birthday. Beloved husband and best friend of Sharon for 47 years. Dear father of Lori Busse, Jocelyn Dow-Callahan, Tammy Zahorchak of England, and Len Dow (Sheila) of Stratford. Adored grandfather of Breanne Palombo (Andrew) of Australia, Ashley Diamond (Shane), Robert Busse (Amanda), Robert Callahan (Phoebe) of Australia, Meghan Callahan, Stuart Dow (Erica) of London, Liam Dow, Michael Busse (Samantha) of Vancouver, and Travis Busse. Great-grandfather of Alexis Palombo, and baby Oliver Palombo of Australia, and much awaited baby Diamond. Dearest brother of Audrey Willick, Norman Dow (Trudy), Claude Dow (Judy), Ida Dow, the late Shirley Smith (Charles), the late Douglas Dow (Marilyn), the late Jack Dow, the late Sterling Dow (Eileen). Brother-in-law of Eleanor Dow. Glen will be dearly missed by brother-in-law and best friend, Donald Henderson (Joyce), brother-in-law Terry Delaney, (Sonia). He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his unique sense of humour, as well as many true friends, especially Sam and Cyr Cocco, who introduced Glen to Sharon over 50 years ago. Glen proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a true Canadian patriot, flying the Canadian flag in his backyard with the RCAF flag below it. He never let the flags get tattered. Glen was an orderly at the GNGH for several years and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. The family would like to thank all of the caring Paramed workers and especially Syvanna and Mikayla, who were with him from the time he was released from the hospital almost eight months ago. Thank you also for his wonderful day nurses, Iran and Tanya and the overnight VON nurses, who all made it possible for him to remain at home. Thanks also to Paul at ProResp Oxygen, for his visits.

I'm sorry to hear about Glen. Our condolences to a wonderful family. Glen was a very positive, funny, compassionate guy. I still tell friends the little jingles Glen taught us as young teenagers. You will always have a place in our hearts, rest in piece Glen.

Dearest Sharon, our thoughts are with you. Our memories of Glen will live on from the time he showed up dressed as Santa to visit our little boys to the multiple Halloween shots on the porch. Glen was a wonderful caring man and we are going to miss him dearly.
