Harry BORSATO Obituary

A lifelong amateur radio operator (VE3BSA), Harry travelled the world but loved the home he built on Scott St. In his 97th year he signed off for the last time to join his loving wife Irene. He also leaves behind his two loving sons and daughters-in-law Larry (Bea) and Garry (Nicole), his beloved grandchildren Neil (Courtney), Keith (Brianna), Theo, Alexandra, and Noelle, and his sister Gloria Hampson and her daughters and sons-in-law. He was passionate about his career as a teacher at Beamsville District Secondary School. At home he was an avid gardener, a builder of model aircraft, and a prodigious woodworker. Multi-talented, he was always tinkering, trying to improve something. In his final days he told us that he had enjoyed a long and awesome life. He always had a cheery smile that made those around him feel happy and at ease. Special thanks to the staff at Niagara Gardens, especially Sheila, who provided excellent care to him in his final years, as well as the staff at 3rd floor Care Station D, St. Catharines Hospital, for making his final days comfortable. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines on Tuesday, September 13th from 2-4 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, St Catharines on Wednesday, September 14th at 11 a.m.

Our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I would like to share memory I have of Tj running into Oma and Opa´s house as a child asking if he could go to Grandma and Grandpa Borsato´s with Neil and Keith. He was so excited and always enjoyed that. Rest In Peace Harry

I was saddened to hear of Mr Borsato's passing.
But, encouraged that myself , as many others can say what a great influence "SIR" had in my life experience. I still get complimented today on my drafting and written/printed work that has served me well for 40 years. Im always happy to say that 4yr of Mechanical Drafting under Mr Borsato's tutelage was the reason. However, the greatest skill I learned was to maintain a piece of chewing gum through a double period without being caught...NOT easy
R.I.P. my old friend and mentor, you maybe didn't know how many young men's lives you impacted, but I can say for certain mine was one!

Mr. Borsato was my favorite teacher my whole life of schooling. His teaching of drafting at BDSS was the best thing that ever happened to me and formed what I have done for a career lasting 37 years and counting.

Loved coming back to St. Kitts and having a cup of coffee with Hank and telling him what I was drafting and designing at my job. He was always so interested.

Still remember the key words he told me when I visited him after a tough semester at Mohawk. Hank said, "Frosey, hang in there as you will make it in this field. You have what it takes.

Thanks Hank for those words. They have stuck with me these 37 years.

I was a student at BDSS from 1973 to 1978.

I have such fond memories of his classes and Operation T-square, an annual drafting contest, sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Mr Borsado encouraged his students to participate in the competition, and with his help Beamsville students usually captured the Lion's share of the awards.

Even though I've been living in Atlanta for the past 35 years, and pretty out of touch, I've had four different friends pass on the news of his passing. He was a true teacher and mentor in every sense of the word.

I hope he always understood the positive effect he had on the lives of his students.

My condolences to his friends and family as I'm sure he will be missed.

Mr. Barsato was a truly great teacher and mentor to many of us who studied under his instruction and leadership. He was tough and expected much from us in our school work and character. As I ponder on those days I can see now that he was not only teach us skills in drafting and electronics but he was preparing us for life. I am a better man today because of the influence of Mr. Barsato. In short, we trusted him. Down deep we knew he deeply cared about us and our futures.
A grateful student,

After messing around in grade 10 for a couple of years and quitting school for a year, I came back to BDSS to be serious about school.
Mr. Borsato was just starting and he took his drafting and strength of materials, very seriously, so we were able to learn it well.

Many fond memories of our drafting classes at BDHS! He was a hard teacher but very well liked and respected. I can remember having to tuck my shirt in before he would allow me in the classroom! Strict but very passionate! I went on into architectural construction and design because of his encouragement. Thank you sir.... Condolences to everyone, may you Rest In Peace!

He was my favorite teacher ever. Incredible man and inspiring teacher who taught drafting at BDSS. A testament to his teaching BDSS always had the best drafting students in the Niagara District every year following his disciplined approach. He inspired me and many others to follow a technical career path. I used to visit him at home and at the retirement home to bring him coffee and donuts as many other grateful students did over the years. He will be missed. RIP Mr. Borsato!!!

My condolences to his family & close friends. I have had fond memories of Mr. Borsato during my years at BDSS. It's not uncommon for me to still tell stories of the adventures during & around the 3rd wing drafting classes. He had a tough facade but once you got to know him, he was a great teacher & Allie. May he rest in peace.
