Ivan McKay

It is with great sadness that the family of Ivan announces his passing on Friday, December 16, 2022. Ivan was predeceased by the love of his life, Monica (2018). Cherished father of Ron (Sheila), Scott (Margaret) and Carol (J.T.). Loving grandpa of Matt and Ian. Ivan was born and raised on the East Coast by his loving parents Minnie and Myron. Ivan is predeceased by his sister Ann (Bob). Ivan had the gift of humour and compassion and loved sharing time with family and friends including neighbours and friends Bernie and Lottie McDonnell. Ivan cherished family trips to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia to share love and laughter with his mom, sister Ann and brother in-law, Bob. Ivan was always devoted to country and community. He spent 23 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, followed by a career in St Catharines with the Federal Government. Ivan devoted countless hours to volunteering, including with both minor hockey and the Canadian Cancer Society. Ivan met and married Monica, in 1953, in Ottawa. Their journey together for the next 65 plus years, included love, laughter, respect and always putting family first. Ivan's positive attitude was an example for us all. Our family thanks the numerous care givers for all their efforts and support over the last several years. In lieu of flowers donations to Threads of Life (www.threadsoflife.ca) or a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the family.
