I don´t know if this page is still active, but if it is, I send big hurrahs for Bob Janes in the afterlife. Wish I could tell his children how much I enjoyed the 5 St.Cyr/Kohler policiers I have just devoured after acquiring them at my rural library´s book sale in Oregon.
The books are brilliant in their details of Vichy France and the territory of the two detectives. I am sorry to have just missed telling Bob of my admiration for the spot-on series. Here´s to Jean-Louis, Hermann, and Bob.

i've only ever read his excellent WWII series, and still have them. He was a wonderful writer. Condolences to his family and friends

To the lovely Janes family,
Our deepest sympathy at the loss of your husband, dad and granddad. The Klassen clan was a part of that first ever cross Canada rock hounding trip where we met Professor Bob, his vivacious wife Gracia and wonderful family. That trip is forever etched in my mind as we shared camping adventures, growing friendships and the ever exciting return of the 'geology class' from their day's explorations as we gathered around to view the hard won treasures. It was cool to be a rock hound, cool to travel in a caravan and oh so much fun for us as children to be a part of the adventure. I remember Professor Bob having an infectious laugh, an inclusive manner that instantly put you at ease and a sharp intelligence behind kind eyes. We so value the friendship of the Janes family over the years and the shared rock hounding passion between our dads. We celebrate Bob's life with you and share in the grief at his passing.

Gracia and family. I am so very sorry to hear of Bob´s passing. He was very much respected by all of his students. I fondly remember that 6 week geology trip across Canada. We had a great time. I think we hit each rock cut from here to Vancouver. On that first trip we were more like family than a class of geology students.
He will be missed. RIP Bob.
