Joseph Galliera Obituary

29 October 1966 - 19 May 2021

It is with heavy hearts and insurmountable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Andrew Galliera at Humber River Hospital on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Dearest friend and cherished husband of Lori (Armstrong) and awesome father of Aaron and Taylor. Joe is survived by his parents, Mario and Eleanor and several brothers and sisters, Angelo (Virginia), Karen (Brent), Mike (Andrea), Denis (Sean), John (Julie), Danny (Jessica), and Jennifer (Sam). He was loving and loved son-in-law to Barbara Armstrong and brother-in-law to David Armstrong. Joe will be affectionately remembered by his many nieces and nephews and numerous friends and colleagues. He had a special way of connecting with everyone he met and will be missed by those whose lives he touched. Sports was a major influence in Joe's life. Growing up he excelled at tennis, football, and golf. Later he became very involved with his boys' teams. He was a coach, manager, or trainer for most of their soccer, baseball, ball hockey and ice hockey teams and was always a favourite of the kids and fellow staff members. He started playing hockey at the same time as his sons did, and absolutely loved everything about it; from the game on the ice to the dressing room banter. In addition to hockey, he gained a passion for curling but nothing compared to his true love for golf. Joe had an explosive swing and always went for the green! In addition to sports, Joe had a love for cooking and entertaining. His many amazing meals were renowned for bringing friends and family together. Joe worked in Electronic Engineering Field as a career. For the last 13 years he and his trusted colleague and close friend Ray, operated the Ontario Branch of Pro-Tech Power Sales. They were a dynamic team who grew this business immeasurably together. In closing we would like to express our gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses for their dedication to Joe during his time of need. In light of the current global pandemic with the present restrictions placed on group gatherings by the government, attendance at the funeral home and cemetery has been restricted to a maximum capacity of 10 people. As a result, the visitation will be by family's invitation and services will be private and in compliance with government restrictions.
