Joy FORTIN

After a lengthy fight with cancer, Joy is finally at rest. She left us peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Hospice Niagara. She was 63 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Simon, devoted children Bianca Sbrizzi (Tim) and Stephen Fortin (Courtney), adored grandchildren Chanel Sbrizzi (Micheal Hammond), James Sbrizzi (Rebecca Hatt), Jolie Fortin and Rochelle Fortin, much loved sister Tina Hugeback (Mark) as well as many nieces and nephews whom Joy truly loved and cherished.

Joy worked for 18 years at Casino Niagara as a waitress. She made many lifelong friendships during her time there. She had a soft spot for animals and children; a remarkable green thumb and loved to garden. Joy had a passion for reading, nature, music and spending time with her family and friends. She will be terribly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Joy's family invites you to Lock 3 Museum, 1932 Welland Canals Parkway, St. Catharines, ON L2R 7K6 on Saturday, December 3, 2022 for a time of reflection from 12:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m followed by a small reception.

Her family would like to send a sincere thank you to the nurses, doctors and P.S.Ws who cared for Joy throughout her illness. A special thank you to the home palliative nurses and care coordinators. A very special thank you to the amazing staff at Hospice Niagara for their care and compassion during her brief stay with them. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joy's memory can be made to The Lincoln County Humane Society.
