Margaret Lukezic Obituary
On Wednesday August 31,2022 Margaret Lukezic (nee Van Viegen) passed away peacefully at Northland Pointe in Port Colborne.
Loving wife of the late John Bouchard (2013). She is survived by her sisters Connie VanKralingen, Frieda Vanderlaan (Art), Alice Ford (Dale), her stepdaughter Sylvia Belise and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Aart (1971) and Margaretha Henrietta Van Viegen-Wijkniet (2001) her brothers Coenraad (1964) and Hendrik Anton (2014).
Born in the Netherlands, Margaret immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1952.
Margaret had a proficiency for numbers, winning numerous awards during her school years. She loved to analyze and always offered suggestions on how to make something more efficient. She began her career selling for Vans Imports, then on to selling homes for Krause Real Estate. In her late forties she went on to work for Port Colborne Poultry retiring after 20+ years as an administrative employee.
Margaret loved to travel spending her vacation time in Europe, Australia and Tazmania. She enjoyed meeting new people and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Throughout her lifetime Margaret had a soft spot for all kinds of "critters", nurturing any stray animal in need. She had a special place in her heart for her 'pups'. Margaret was also a prolific gardener providing friends and family with an endless bounty of peaches, plums and whatever else her garden would supply. Her 'rum-pot' was one of her specialities.
A very special thank you to the staff and caregivers of the Starboard Unit at Northland Pointe for their excellent care during her time there.
There will be no visitation. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Society of Ontario or the Welland and District Humane Society.
