It is with great sadness that the family of Maria announces her peaceful passing at Heidehof on Sunday, January 23, 2022, one day short of her 98th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo (March 26, 2007), cherished daughter of the late Luigi and Maria Louisa Leone. Loving and devoted mother of Delores (Tony) Ferrelli, Teresa (Peter) Kellett and Angie Graham (Ron Bottos). Maria's spirit will live on in her cherished grandchildren Anthony (Sherrye), Steven (Karen), Michael (Karen), Gabriel Ferrelli, Sean (Jennifer) Kellett, Dawn Kellett (Ramon Filguiera), Justin and Taylor Graham and their father Howard; Her loving great-grandchildren, Mia, Aiden, Daniella, Zoe, Michael, Amelia, Dante, Myriam, Brynn, Rafael and Lara. Maria is predeceased by her sisters Anna (Nazareno) Mariani, Paulina (Giovanni) Biondi and brother Claudio (Maria) Leone. Also predeceased by her parents -in-law Pietro and Donata D'Ammizio, brothers-in-law Rocco (Angelo) and Antonio D'Ammizio and sisters-in-law Emmacolata (Augustino) Falovo and Addolorata D'Ammizio. Also predeceased by her stepbrothers-in -laws, Domenico, Frank (Concetta) D'Ammizio and step sister-in-law Menica (Egidio) Del Duca. She is survived by sister-in-law Michelina and Rocca D'Ammizio and many nieces and nephews. Maria had many talents, cooking, sewing, gardening, and knitting. She enjoyed travelling with the church groups and travelling to Mexico. She lovingly cared for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was active parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Maria lived a life committed to great kindness and compassion shown to her family and friends. She lived a long life sharing wisdom and values which will be carried on through all who knew her. Many thanks to the Heidehof staff for their tender care of our mother. Relatives and friends will be received at the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent St, Thorold, by appointment only on Wednesday January 26, 2022, from 10:00 Am till 12:00 p.m. If you wish to attend the visitation, please call 905-227-0161 to reserve your place. All covid policies will be followed, masks and physical distancing are mandatory. A private family Funeral Mass will be held at the Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen St., Thorold. Following the Mass, a private family Entombment will be held at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the C.N.I.B would be appreciated by the family.
