Mary Tymkow Obituary

Tymkow, Mary Elizabeth - Of Welland, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13th in her 89th year, at Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie. Mary was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Ed Tymkow (2017), her brothers Frank and Louie Biro, and her parents Frank and Emma Biro.
She is survived by her Sister-in-Law, Helen Biro, her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as many good friends. Mary was the Lead Floral Designer for Welland Flower Shop, the family-owned business for 42 years. She loved her rose gardens, and was very proud of her many award-winning roses. Mary was a devout member of the Parish Community of St. Kevin Church. She was very involved in her Church community over the years serving as a long-time member of the Catholic Women's League, the Bereavement Committee, singing in the Resurrection Choir, and was always first to donate her wonderful baked goods for any church events. Mary so enjoyed her card groups, knitting groups, travelling, and going to the Casino (once or twice) with her casino pals! Her presence will be missed by the many lives that she touched. The family wishes to express our deepfelt gratitude for the wonderful care shown our Dear Aunt at both Plymouth Cordage and Gilmore Lodge over this past difficult year as she struggled through ALS. The family will receive relatives and friends at JJ Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday, September 17th from 4-8 p.m., with vigil prayers at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Parish Community of St. Kevin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18th. Rite of Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In keeping with current Covid-19 Provincial Restrictions, capacity is limited within the funeral home. Masks and social distancing while waiting to enter are mandatory. If desired, donations may be made in Mary's memory to the ALS Society, Gilmore Lodge, or St. Kevin's Church. I knew Mary thorough our Church. My fond recollections of her were: that, in life, she was an astute, clever business woman, imbued with many talents but, most of all a good soul - impeccable character and altruistic. She was always at the Church, doing any and every task with the greatest of ease and delight. She was invaluable! To all of the remaining family members who mourn her at this time, I offer my sincere condolences; I never knew, that she had such an odious disease to contend with, but I am sure she "handled" it with stoicism and bravery. She is now joined with Ed, and, I have a felling they are both arranging beautiful flowers in their new and better abode. Rest in peace - Mary. Yours was a life well lived and you left your indelible mark in the community, the Church and to our Saviour. Gloria
