Patricia Louise "Pat" (Howe) Gibson was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She attended Simcoe Street Public School and Maple Street Public School. She graduated from the Niagara Falls Collegiate Vocational Institute (NFCVI) in 1965. In 1968, Pat received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria College, University of Toronto, and in 1970, she received her master's degree in Library and Information Science, from the University of Western Ontario. Pat worked as a librarian, library manager, and information management specialist for the Public Service of Canada in Ottawa from 1974 to her retirement in 2012. Pat was involved in many activities, including school advisory committees, various Toastmasters clubs and book clubs. She found great pleasure in her pets, reading, knitting, crocheting, and watching classic movies. Pat is survived by her sons, William Colin (Marianne) and Alex. She was the proud grandmother of Leo and Amaryllis, Colin and Marianne's adorable children. She was predeceased by her father, Corporal William (Paddy) Howe of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (1961), her mother, Margaret Elva (Goodwill) Howe (1997), her brother, William George Howe (2005), and William Allan (Bill) Gibson (2017). There will be a Celebration of Life at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pat will be interred in Hillcrest Cemetery, in Woodbridge, Ontario at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th. She will be missed by her family, her relatives, and her many friends. If so desired, those wishing to commemorate Pat are kindly requested to make a donation in her honour to a
charity of their choice.
