It is with heavy and broken hearts we announce the loss of our much loved cousin, uncle, and friend, Patrick "Pat" Gallagher. With family at his side, on May 1, 2022, Pat passed away after a brief but difficult and courageous battle with cancer. He had, just weeks ago, celebrated his 60th birthday.
Patrick was the much loved and favoured cousin of many, but especially to Lorrie Daniels (Mark), Terrie Finelli (Tony), and Wayne Hewitt (Dawn), and a very special Uncle to Meghan Milner (Matt), Kelly Borojevic (Matija), and Jacob Antonio (Amanda). He will be missed by his friends, especially by his closest friends Carol and Gary Dyck.
All who met him loved him and knew him as a gentle giant; a teddy bear with an enormous heart and his booming laughter. Patrick was predeceased by his sisters Wendy (1962) and Cheryl (1983), his father Don (1987), his sister Faye (1999), and most recently his mom, Betty (2015).
Patrick grew up in Queenston and played many sports in his youth. After declining an opportunity to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1983, Patrick became a plumber and worked at Warren's Plumbing and Heating in Niagara-on-the-Lake until an injury occurred. He was re-educated at Niagara College and became a certified building inspector in 2003 for the County of Brant, in Paris, Ontario. This was a role he thoroughly enjoyed alongside his work family.
Patrick was well known in Niagara. He continued to enjoy all sports as a spectator throughout his life, especially his Buffalo Bills. His happy place was at his cottage in Ahmic Harbour, in Lorrie's kitchen, or anywhere singing with Meghan.
The family is so grateful to Dr. Michelle Ghert for her excellent care and advocacy on Patrick's behalf, to our Social Worker Kristen, whose support was invaluable, and to the nursing staff at Juravinski Cancer Hospital on F4 for their care and compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). As per Patrick's wishes cremation has taken place. The family will host a celebration of life on May 29, 2022 at the Niagara on the Lake Community Centre, 14 Anderson Lane, Niagara on the Lake, the Simpsons Room, from 12:00pm - 4:00pm as maximum room capacity at any one time can be 70 people. Please view Pat's tribute page for further information. Memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Online condolences may be shared on Patrick's tribute page found at
