Pieter BARENDS Obituary
Loving father to Trish (Jesse) Gemmell and Stephen (Arlene) Barends.
Special Grampa to Hayley and Trinity Gemmell.
Pete is survived by his siblings John (Bonnie), Gerda, Jane (Chuck), Marie and Ed (Lori) and his brother-in-law Gary (Sherry).
He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Pieter and Marie and siblings Robbie and Carol.
Pete loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, golfing, spending time up north and socializing. He also truly loved his job as a heavy equipment operator and even after retirement he could be found visiting jobs sites to talk to his buddies, bringing them a coffee and staying informed on the job at hand.
In keeping with Pete's wishes cremation has taken place. His family will receive the comfort of friends at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Hwy at the corner of Hwy 20) on Friday December 16th from 6-9 p.m. A service to celebrate this life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday December 17th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity that's important to you and your family, will be appreciated.

So sorry for your loss Trish and Stephen.
My memories are a bit faded but I remember seeing your dad often in the early 70, while he was hanging out with my dad. I Am happy we got a chance to say hello again more recently, My deepest condolences, to you and your families.

So sorry for the loss of Pete I went to school with him at E W Farr Memorial in Fenwick . I saw him again after many years at the passing of another mutual friend of ours, we had a great catch up , so glad that happened ! Sympathies to his family
