Richard Frederick "Dick" HELM

Dick passed away at Maple Park Lodge in Fort Erie on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in his 87th year. After a decade long struggle with Alzheimer Disease. A loving husband of Sandra for 44 years. Loving father of Dr. Barbara Welker, Catharine Majtyka (Dan), Michael (Gale) and James (Diane); step-father of Michael and Paul (Sandra) Faulkner. He is survived by his six grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Dick was a former member of the Erie County Sheriff's Dept. Under Water Division, West Seneca Volunteer Fire Dept. and a 20 year member of the Fort Erie Lions Club. He had a passion for many outdoor activities such as golfing, motorcycling, camping, gardening and skiing to name a few; he also had an unfailing sense of humour. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the following people; Charlotte from the Alzheimer Society, the staff from Maple Park Lodge for their kindness and dedication and Dr. Scher for the compassion and guidance over the years, a special friend who has been a mainstay in our lives and helped us navigate through this dreadful disease. In honouring Dick's wishes a private family service will be held. Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society or Cancer Society, if desired.
