Rick, you were a giant amongst us, with your gentle calm demeanor, your kindness, your sharp sense of humour, and your genuine interest in and caring for those around you. I never knew you once to lose your temper, your smile or your positive outlook on life. You really did embrace it with deep appreciation. I admired your ability to balance your work and personal life so well, making me smile at your shift trade book with everything scheduled. It was very apparent family meant everything to you. You were a highly esteemed colleague who will live on in the example of an outstanding life you have shown us! RIP dear Rick.

I didn't know that my brother and I shared the same trait of parking as far away from a store as possible. It must be a Lavery trait. Always remembered his brotherly advice and kindness. He was my OUTSTANDING brother.

My memories of Rick are his fast pace walk that would always stop to say hello and have a few words, or a more in-depth conversation about many different topics he was a very interesting man, but always endIng the conversation with a laugh. We loved our Uncle Rick ❤
We will always remember his incredibly contagious positivity and his unbelievable way he had with people. No matter what you had to say to him he would always show you great attention to which you felt and knew he cared strongly about what you were saying and no matter what he always knew what to say to you. Outstanding was most definitely what he was but we think inspiring would be even more suited to our Uncle Rick.
We will never forget what a wonderful story teller he was, no matter what he was telling you, you were automatically compelled to believe him. Some nights we would listen to his ghost stories which we loved the most and even as adults he would scare us out of our wits!
Oh Uncle Rick we love you so much and are so happy we had time to hear one last story and give you one last hug this summer. The memories of you will never fade.
Whenever we get together and are laughing and having fun we will invite you to join us because I know that you are here still with us all. Only you know Uncle Rick that in our moments of silence we individually find ways to communicate our feelings of your passing to you, so strong is our will to reach out to you one more time just to say we won't forget and thank you for being our Uncle Rick.
