Roger Helmkay Obituary

Peacefully, at NHS-St. Catharines Site on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 78 years of age. Beloved husband of Brenda (nee Dunford) for almost 57 years. Dear Dad of Doug (Lisa), Kim (Norm) and Roger (the late Claudette). Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Catherine), Meaghan (Aleksa), Madison, Quinn and Chloe. Great-grandfather of Charlotte and Luka Teodorcevic. Dear brother of Gordon (late Barbara) and Jack (Geri). Brother-in-law of Steve, Wayne and Gail. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his parents; Walter John and Olive May (nee Boyle). Roger will be missed by his loving dog, Cuddles. Roger loved sports including bowling, umpiring and playing baseball. In honouring Roger's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held in the future. Memorial donations to HHS-Juravinski Hematology C-4 and NHS-St. Catharines would be appreciated. The family extends their gratitude to all the doctors and nurses that provided care to Roger. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.

"Uncle Rog" will be so sadly missed by all of his many friends and family. His sense of humor would leave those around him, shaking their heads, and laughing at the same time. He was quite the character, and will be so missed at the family get togethers where he would constantly entertain his nieces, nephews, and all in attendance with his groan inducing sense of humor. Thanks for the laughs Roger! We're gonna miss ya Shadow!

Roger was always there for the players at the Grantham Optimist Club. His devotion to the kids and his efforts will be remembered by several generations of young ball players. We will miss him. Rest In Peace Roger.
