Ronald Cooper HANSEN

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ron, peacefully, at Humber River Hospital in Toronto on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the age of 78 years. Father to Marc (Catherine), Chris (Joanne), and Eric. Special Grandfather to Amanda, Benjamin, and Mary Jane, as well as great-grandchild Lucas. Ron will be sadly missed by his siblings Patricia Ross, Robert, sister-in-law Barbara Hansen, and his close friend Korreen Bennett. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by his daughter Charlene in 1988. Ron worked for 35 years at GM Canada, St. Catharines, as a stationary engineer. He also proudly served from September 1990 to June 1995 as an elected Ontario MPP, in the riding of Lincoln, with the NDP. Ron enjoyed fishing, bowling, travelling, technology, and photography. His family extends a heartfelt 'Thank You' to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at both West Park Health Centre and Humber River Hospital for their care and compassion over the last number of years. Donations to West Park Health Centre or Help a Child Smile, in Ron's memory, would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place. Private family arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasantview Funeral Home, Fonthill (905-892-1699) with interment being held at a later date.
