Shannon MONGER Obituary

The family of Shannon Hope Monger is saddened to announce her passing on August 29, 2022. Left, not to mourn, but to remember her uniqueness, flamboyance and beauty are parents Chuck and Leslie, brother Joey (Danielle), grandmother Veronica (late Charles), grandparents Bill and Yolande Hughey, aunt and dear friend Becky Follows and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Shannon's strong will, incredible intelligence and "knowledge of everything" remained throughout her life. She was well-read and loved to travel. She could speak knowledgeably on most subjects and would gladly give you her firm opinion on the matter. It always amazed those around her how knowledgeable Shannon was on many diverse facts. If a concert or event appealed to Shannon, she would make her way there. Viewing the Cherry Blossoms in Hyde Park, skiing in Japan, enjoying Blue Bottle coffee in San Francisco, visiting the Frida Kahlo exhibit or Trotsky's home in Mexico City (on her own), getting a tattoo in NYC at NY Ink are a few examples of her adventures. She loved being outdoors hiking, especially along the Escarpment, and skiing in the winter was a must for her birthday. As an RPN, Shannon provided caring help to others at The Jacob in Beamsville. The family will have a private service and celebration of life. Per her wishes, Shannon will receive a Green Natural Burial and her body will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Jordan. In Shannon's memory, plant a tree, or better yet, reach out to someone dear to you with love and kindness. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com.

I remember Shannon as a firecracker. She was intelligent, curious, spirited and had such a quick wit for a young child. Your memorial made it clear she took all those great qualities with her as she grew into an amazing young woman.
Leslie, Chuck, Joey we are so sorry for your loss. Wishing you comfort, peace, courage and lots of love in this time of sorrow. Our hearts go out to you and your family.

"Most things are forgotten over time. Even the war itself, the life-and-death struggle people went through is now like something from the distant past. We´re so caught up in our everyday lives that events of the past are no longer in orbit around our minds. There are just too many things we have to think about everyday, too many new things we have to learn. But still, no matter how much time passes, no matter what takes place in the interim, there are some things we can never assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away. They remain with us forever, like a touchstone."
