Dr. Spencer Alan TIGHE

TIGHE, Dr. Spencer Alan April 9, 1957 - November 26, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Spencer Alan Tighe on November 26, 2018 after a short battle with a rare cancer. He will be deeply missed by his wife and soulmate Catherine, children Evan and Alexandra, father Wray (Molly), brother Brian (Kathy), nephew Grayson, mother-in-law Helen, brother-in-law Grant, and a circle of close friends. He was predeceased by his mother Mildred. With a passion for education and learning, Spencer received a degree at Queen's University, his medical degree from the University of Toronto, and completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Ottawa. He spent a number of years in private practice and psychopharmacology research and consulting before returning to his true passion for community-based mental health and spent over a decade with ACTT (Assertive Community Treatment Team) at Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre. He was committed to enhancing the quality of care for people with complex needs, and proudly served as a steering committee member and mentor for the Collaborative Mental Health Network (CMHN) of the Ontario College of Family Physicians. Spencer's kindness, compassion, wisdom, and wit touched the lives of everyone around him. With a brilliant mind and wicked sense of humour, Spencer had an inspiring ability to always see and appreciate the beauty in our complex world. Above all, he was truly a devoted husband and father who cared deeply and unconditionally for his family. In celebration of his life, a service will be held at Bayview Yards, 7 Bayview Road, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Spencer, please consider The Ottawa Mission to honour his dedication to offering hope and dignity to the most vulnerable.
