Stella Krochak

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Krochak, our beloved mother, baba, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, who passed away peacefully at her home in St. Catharines on July 20, 2022 surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was born in Hryhoriw in the Ternopil region of Ukraine on March 6, 1926. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1937, settling in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Stella loved gardening and shared her vegetables and flowers with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and prepared delicious pyrohy, cabbage rolls, cinnamon buns and pizzas. She was always ready to assist others less fortunate, often sending clothes to Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, daughter Justina, sisters Pauline and Mary and brother Steve. She will be missed by her children Julia (Ty), Mary (Ed), William, Yvonne, Peter, her son-in-law Ralph, her sister Yvonne, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Special thanks to her neighbours Irene and Terry, Mitch and Jen, Dan and Kristia, Nick and Tina, Mike and Nicole, who were incredibly supportive over the years. Thank you also to Dr. Boychuk, Dr. Chauhan, caregivers Luche and Samantha, palliative care nurse Juby and paramedic Brian. Donations in Stella's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
