Steve SVEDA Obituary

Passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023 at the age of 93. Loving father to Sandra (James). Cherished grandfather to Kimberly (Gregory), Steven (Stephanie), Shannon and Trisha. Proud great-grandfather to Miles, Leila and Lewis. Dear brother to Joseph. Steve will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Helen, his daughter Margaret, his parents Steve Sr. and Rose, his brother Andrew and sister-in-law Joyce. Steve was born in Romania in 1929. He served in the Korean War as a young man, which brought him tremendous pride. Steve worked for many years as an Electrician at Stelco. He was a hard-working man, who enjoyed the simple things in life. Steve will be remembered for his love of reading, the Toronto Blue Jays, and above all else, for his love and devotion to his family. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Welland Hospital (ECU) for their wonderful care and compassion over the last few years. Also, thank you to Kayleigh Peterson from Essentials for her support. In keeping with Steve's wishes, cremation and a private funeral have taken place. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Hope Centre or a Charity of Your Choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. I would like to thank everyone for saying goodbye to my father.
Thank you Steven for carrying my father to his final resting place - beside my mother.
Thank you Steph for calling him Grandpa, he loved you for that.
Kim and Greg - thank you for giving him a great grandson.
His eyes lit up every time he saw him or saw videos of him.
And a special thank you to my husband - you were my dad´s best friend. You were always there for him.
I wanted to say this at the cemetery but tears took over.
Thank you, everyone.
I love you dad, and I will miss you. Sandy

Well Gramps, you had an awesome life and touched so many hearts. We shed tears today knowing we won't get any more hugs and won't see your smile again. We are left with beautiful memories though. I am certain you watched over our reunion today as we reminisced. You will be missed every day. Leila, Lewis and I are so blessed to have had you in our lives. I am at peace knowing you are with mom and grandma again.

Not enough space here for all the memories we shared. I am just so grateful for the time over the last few years that Leila, Lewis and I had to spend with you. I'm going to miss seeing your face light up when we walked in the room. Knowing that you are finally reunited with grandma and mom brings me peace. Love you forever Gramps,Grandpa Pishta! Xoxo
