Wilda CHASE/CHAPMAN Obituary

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Phil. 1:21)
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord (2Cor. 5:8)
On February 5, 2023, at the age of 85, Wilda went to her heavenly home. Predeceased by her husband Ralph Chase (2006). Survived by loving partner Ronald Chapman; daughter Hallie (Captain Chris Leonard); and brothers Dr. Claude Swayze (Mary Ann) of St. Paul Minnesota and Dr. A. Gary Swayze (Sandra) of Toronto and Niagara-on the-Lake.
Wilda attended Maple St. School and NFCVI. After graduation, she became a member of the Ontario Medical Secretaries Association and worked in the office of the late Dr. Wrong. Wilda also became a member of the Ontario Genealogical Society- Niagara Peninsula Branch, and the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada- Col. John Butler Branch, receiving 13 certificates for verified Loyal Ancestors. She was the proud 4th generation, along with her brothers, to operate her great-grandparents St. Davids Ontario Century farm, originally purchased in 1872. Wilda was a member of St. Davids-Queenston United church congregation since 2014.
At Wilda's request, no funeral service and burial has taken place in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to any charity of their choosing.

I only recall meeting Wilda a few times at the Niagara OGS meetings but the first time that I met her, she left a lasting impression with her friendliness and outgoing personality. I don´t know how we got on the topic of the Pt Abino Lighthouse but she told me that it was painted on her garage door and gave me her address to go and see it which I did. And was very impressed. I really had to put my thinking cap on to put the pieces together but found that I had written about the photo in my lighthouse photos file and thank goodness had included Wilda´s name. The world has lost a very special person indeed. I am sorry for your loss.

Wilda brought happiness to all the people she came in contact with. Although she repeated the many jokes she told, they always brought a smile to those she told them to. She loved working in the garden area and it always made the building area look nice and clean. She was always on the go and never rested it seemed, just like the Ever-Ready Bunny.. The world has lost a wonderful lady... Our loss is Heaven´s gain. She will be missed by all of us. God Bless her soul...
