William Lloyd Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bill, at the age of 71. Loving husband and best friend to Cathy, married for 44 years. Dearly loved father to children Eric (Sarah) and Trevor (Jackie) and cherished Papa to Raymond and Emma. He will be lovingly remembered by sister Virginia (Jim) and sister-in-law Jo-Ann, nieces Ashley, Alexandra, Sarah and Erin, and many good friends and neighbours. He worked as a welder at the Port Weller Dry Docks and retired from General Motors as a maintenance welder in 2012. Mr. Fix-it was meticulous in his work, generously helped his friends and family, enjoyed rides on his Harley and days at the beach. He strengthened everyone around him through his teachings and advice.
Please join us for a celebration of life to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 141 Highway 20 E., Fonthill on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Masks are required.

Bill....you were a credit to yourself and a fine example to others. In 1975 I attended Niagara College's ," Welders & Fitters" course with Bill. His welding skills were evident back then. Later(1977)we met up at Port Weller Dry Docks as Burner/Tackers and progressed to 1st Class Welders. I ended up(Dec. /81) at Foster Wheeler as a Welder and Bill went to(1982) GM of Canada a few years later as a 1st Class Welder. In 1983, I applied for work at GM of Canada and was hired but not as a welder. Often I would see Bill in the workplace and we always stopped to chat about life and family. Nice guy and a good welder. GM of Canada was fortunate to have him as a skilled tradesperson. Condolences to Cathy and family.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Lloyd.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd were always thought of as the 'cool parents' by all of us in our high school days. They were very welcoming of everyone and often joined us in the driveway for late night laughs.

Mr. Lloyd always took an interest in what everyone was up to and he was very supportive anytime someone got a new job or found a new place to live. He was quick with a one-liner and had a great sense of humor.

I remember hanging out at the house during Christmas, talking with him as we watched Ray and Emma run around and he would smile and tell me how much they reminded him of Eric and Trevor when they were that age.

He was a great guy and will certainly be missed.

Bill always sneaked away when Cathy would have the ladies get togethers! I used to tell him that he didn't have to leave that he could be our entertainment! I will always remember his laugh and his smiling eyes. My dearest friend Cathy and family, sending you my deepest sympathies and love.

I've known Bill for years from GM and thru his Dad who I worked with as fellow millwright. Just ran into Bill a month ago at Good Eats. He looked well and we chatted. What a super nice guy. Fun to be around and very sincere. He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace my friend. Dennis Parsons. My condolences to the family.
