RADDEN, A. Hedley
Aged 85. Peacefully and with great dignity on April 10, 2002, at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Loving husband of Audrey (for 60 years). Father of Merilyn Shute and her husband John of Melbourne, Australia, and Paul and his wife Mary Louise of Toronto. Darling grandpa of Rebecca, Ben and Christopher (Australia) and Zoe, William and Michael in Toronto. Hedley who was born in Plymouth, England, on February 17, 1917, first became acquainted with Canada while serving in the RAF when he spent 2 years with #31 Operational Training Unit in Debert, Nova Scotia. He moved to Toronto in 1965 with his family. Hedley was a career employee of the Phoenix Assurance Company from 1934 to 1974 rising to the position of President of the Canadian operations. Hedley was a well respected and well liked member of his working community. He will live in the hearts of those who love him forever. Hedley was able to continue his charming ways at Sunnybrook Hospital where he spent the last few weeks of his life. A special thanks to Dr. Rob Hayes and the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Hospital. A celebration of Hedley's life will be held for friends and family at Paul and Mary Louise's home at 154 Haddington Ave. at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation, 2075 Bayview Ave., Toronto, M4N 3M5, or a charity of your choice.
