Adele LASKIN Obituary
LASKIN, Adele
Peacefully at home on November 7, 2011, in her 89th year, surrounded by her devoted family. Pre-deceased by Saul, her beloved husband of 62 years. Loving mother and mother-in- law of Deborah Laskin- Rich and Danny Rich, John Laskin and Holly Goren Laskin, Susan Laskin and Larry Grossman, Shelley Laskin and Hector Standing, and Mark Laskin. Proud grandmother of Stephen, Ben, Leanne, Lauren and her husband David Gluck, Jenna, Max, Dyan, Josh, Rachel, Zack, Alex and Kenzie, and great-grandmother of Romy. Born to Sam and Leza Tritt in 1923 in Fort William, and educated at Fort William Collegiate and the University of Manitoba. Not only a great support to Saul in his furniture business and political career, but also a formidable presence in her own right as a volunteer for many community organizations including Children's Aid, the Thunder Bay Library Board and Hadassah-WIZO, and as a prototypical multi-tasker. Nothing ever fazed her. She welcomed any opportunity to open her home to others and to share home-made goodies with friends and family. Special thanks to Dr. Sid Nusinowitz for his exemplary care and compassion and to Fern Ruttan and Eva Ocampo for their kindness. Funeral at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Holy Blossom Memorial Park. Shiva at 3 Concorde Place, #2203, Toronto. Visits from 1 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to the Adele and Saul Laskin Endowment Fund at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care or to a charity of your choice.
