ADRIANA ANTON Obituary

Loving Partners, Devoted Parents and Grandparents It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of Adriana Anton (née Mazarini) and Sergiu Anton on Friday, May 2, 2025. Adriana passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Mere minutes later, her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Sergiu, followed her, inseparable even in their final moments. Their passing marks a new chapter in a remarkable love story and an end to a life journey defined by courage, resilience, and unwavering devotion to each other. Adriana and Sergiu were united not only in marriage, but in spirit, always facing life's challenges side by side. In the 1970s, they fled communist Romania in search of freedom and opportunity, immigrating to Canada in 1976. With no family or network to receive them, they overcame some early hardships with the help of kind Canadians and fellow Romanian newcomers, building a life of purpose, and compassion. They are survived by their daughter, Giorgia Anton, and granddaughter, Vivienne Anton, who will carry forward the strength, love, and values passed down by Adriana and Sergiu. Lifelong advocates for fairness and democracy, Adriana and Sergiu were known for their kindness and warmth. Throughout their years together, they embraced life with unflinching honesty and genuine hearts, ever true to who they were. Though their absence leaves a profound emptiness, the many moments of laughter and joy shared with them, with their family and friends will forever light the hearts of those who knew and loved them. They will be missed immensely, but never forgotten. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be made in their memory.

We've heard about the death of our friends, and we're heartbroken. Hard to forget the fifty years of sharing the immigration boundaries which divide hope and shadowy and vague moments we survived together. But the end is the other beginning.
