Died suddenly on January 31, 2025, at age 68 in Toronto. Alan was a truly gentle person with a kind heart. He was a friendly man who took great joy in connecting with the people around him. He enjoyed a long career in commercial real estate, and in recent years, loved to spend time in his garden, playing with his grandchildren, and taking in the nature of the Ontario and Nova Scotia countryside. He is survived by his beloved children, Angus Cole (Missy Chua), Hilary Atleo (Clifford Atleo), Madeline Whetung (Joaquin Santana), and Olivia Whetung; their mother, Vicki Whetung; and his grandchildren who brought their Bubba much joy, Aniese, Elise, and Isla Cole (Chua), Fisher and Eleanor Atleo, and Vida Santana Whetung. He is survived by his companion, Bev Sweetman. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred O. Cooper Cole (1925-1996) and Jean Murray Cole (1927-2024). Survived by his siblings, Sally (Michael Huberman), Leslie (John Crump), Ian, Catherine (Gordon Wood), and Emily (Michael Wieczorek); and many nieces and nephews. There will be a family celebration of Alan's life in the spring, and his ashes will be interred at Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough. Memorial donations can be made in his memory to Birds Canada (
