ALAN GORDON Obituary

March 10, 1933 - January 6, 2025 Alan left this life peacefully and quickly after a bout of pneumonia, with his daughter, Catharine by his side. He joins his lifelong love, beloved wife, Glenna Carr, who had gone ahead six months before. He leaves behind sons, Bruce and Ian; daughter-in-law, Kira Leeb; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Alan had strong passions that left this world a better place. His commitment to education, lifelong learning and mentoring others began as the first registrar of Waterloo Lutheran University, and carried through senior roles in the Ontario provincial government. In Colleges and Universities, Community and Social Services, and Government Services, where he served as deputy minister, he left a strong legacy of service to the public. Known for both his intelligence and his humour, he made and kept many deep friendships, some going back more than 75 years. He and Glenna shared a rich and loving life especially at the farm in Shelburne, sailing, and travelling. He asked that we "skip a funeral but raise a dram of Scotch and remember great times". And thank the kind staff at Summit Place in Owen Sound.

I´m so terribly sorry to hear of `Grandpas Alan´s´ passing.
Alan was a dear friend of mine and my boys´, we lovingly called him Grandpa Alan, have wonderful memories of visits to the farm when the boys were very young and a picture of him in his shop still sits in our bookshelf.
He has been thought of so often in past years and will be missed.
Regretful I did not stay in touch in recent years.
