ALBERT GOLDHAR Obituary



DR. ALBERT GOLDHAR M.D., FRCS Peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at his home, with his loving family by his side, at age 79. Cherished husband of Bootie for 55 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Debbie Munnings, Sharry and Robert Wilson, Linda Goldhar, Robin and Paul Cooper, Tracey and Wer ner Oster mann. Devoted grandfather of Ellie, Tara, Leslie, Brandon, Kyle, Kristin, Jenna, and Trevor. Dear brother of Morty Goldhar and the late Maxwell, Ar nold, Har r y, Sally, and Ida. Dr. Goldhar graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1949. He practiced the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Northwester n General Hospital from 1955 until amalgamation in 1997 and then became an associate medical staff member at Humber River Regional Hospital from 1997 - 2006. His many accomplishments include the positions of Chief of Staff (1977 1984) and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (1962 - 1978), both at Northwestern General Hospital. He ser ved on numerous medical committees. He was on the Executive of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Toronto (1967 1970), was a Fellow of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, and was a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Our many thanks go to Dr. Lorraine Wood for her compassionate care, to homecare nurse Rosemary, and to Dr. Brandwein and Dr. Krzyzanowska of Princess Margaret Hospital. Due to the care from his five children and his devoted and loving wife, we were able to keep him with us a while longer. At Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street (south of Eglinton) for ser vice on Friday, March 3rd at 12:00 noon. Interment Pardes Shalom Cemetery, Holy Blossom Temple Section. Shiva 126 Ava Road, beginning Sunday at 2:00 pm and concluding on Monday evening. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation 416- 946-6560.
