Alberta POS Obituary
January 3, 1955 – September 6, 2024 With great heartbreak we report the sudden death of (Lili) Alberta Eveline Pos. Predeceased by her mother, Nike Pos (nee Peterich); and brother, Allen. Sister of Nina Annelise Pos (Kenneth Price) and Michael (Lisa); aunt of Calen, Maddy, Andrew, Lucas and Spencer Pos; and sister-in-law of Louise Pos. Alumnus of Rippleton Rd. Elementary, Branksome Hall and Lausanne Canadian Junior College, Switzerland. Tennis player at the Granite Club then Toronto Lawn, skier at Devil's Glen, family's interior decorator, traveller, steadfast friend, generous hostess of intimate dinner parties and celebrations. Soma practitioner with a successful private practice until a painful pelvic injury ended this career and the joy of many sports. Tenured Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at York University until her diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy in 2022. Alberta was passionate about her profession: university colleagues describe her best: "As an internationally recognized expert in emotional, experiential, and interpersonal processes in psychotherapy; she travelled far and wide as a sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator. She found her intellectual home within the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) where she assumed many leadership roles, culminating as President Elect for SEPI. In addition to significant contributions to Emotion Focused Therapy, Alberta was committed to unifying across divides of various schools of psychotherapy; demonstrating her theoretical sophistication, openness, and curiosity as a scholar… Students adored her. (They) eagerly sought out Alberta's depth of knowledge and clinical wisdom. She always gave generously of her time, supervising student clinicians and leading emotion-focused groups and workshops in the York University Psychology Clinic (YUPC)… her contributions to student training and success were… recognized with her receipt of the YUPC Supervisor Award. Alberta will be fondly remembered for her genuineness, astuteness, generosity, and passion… We will deeply miss her bold, adventurous, boundary pushing spirit." Dearest sister, aunt and friend, thank you for your love. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for everything.
