1941 - 2024 Robin Douglas passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. A proud fourth generation Vancouverite, Robin grew up in the city and spent his formative years at Shawnigan Lake School. Following university, he pursued the first of his passions: aviation school. Robin spent several years with his head literally in the clouds as a bush pilot in the high Arctic, and eventually joined Air Canada in the 1960s, flying DC-8s across Canada and the world. In 1967, Robin married Suzanne, the heart and foundation from which his career and family dreams could take flight. Robin decided to pursue his second great career passion of finance and numbers in 1971 when he joined Pemberton Securities. In 1979, he was awarded with one of the most prestigious designations in the finance sector – the Fellowship of the Canadian Securities Institute. In 1986, Robin earned the Portfolio Manager designation and joined Raymond James in 1998 as Founding Manager of the Cathedral 21 branch. In 2004, he created Concierge Investing, the culmination of his professional experience and personal values of crafting an experience for clients modeled after the bespoke service of a hotel concierge. Forever learning, Robin earned his certificate in Business Family Advising from the Sauder School of Business of the University of British Columbia in the inaugural class of 2009. With 53 years in the investment industry, Robin was a mentor and confidant to many and cherished the relationships he built with clients and colleagues throughout his career. Robin's love of British Columbia drove his support of local communities and foundations. He loved exploring the coast of our province with his fishing group "the Slabhunters." Robin was unwavering in his belief that retirement should only be considered at 88 (at the earliest) and was studying through his final days. He believed "if the mind rests it rusts" and had a deep passion for reading and research. From bold new recipes to the latest development in AI, Robin's zest for knowledge and new information was unrivaled. His sharp sense of humour and current event pop quizzes made every family dinner a lively one! Robin will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; children, Kristi (Martin), Chloé and Taylor; and grandchildren, Jack and Emma. Our thanks to Dr. Lyall Levy, Dr. Merrick Tosefsky and Maureen van den Dool of VCH. In lieu of flowers, Robin's wish was that donations be made to the Graham L. Anderson Legacy Scholarship (a teacher he greatly admired at Shawnigan Lake School) or a
Charity of Your Choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Walkey & Company Funeral Directors (604) 738 - 0006
