FINLAYSON, Dr. Alexander (Alistair), Surgeon Lieutenant (RNVR, 1942-1946)
died peacefully with the dignity that defined his life on November 3, 2009, in his 93rd year at the Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton. Predeceased by his beloved Margaret (January 2009), his wife of 65 years. Alistair served his country at war in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the English Channel. He was a responsible and caring physician, trusted colleague, and generous friend who touched many lives. His selfless devotion to his family will be lovingly remembered. He is survived by his sons Reid (Diana), Alan (Anita), Stuart (Jo-Ann); his grandchildren, Drew (Geri), Heather, Olivia, Leah (Mrs. Derek Dix), Erin (Mrs. Greg Cormier), Jim and Sarah (Mrs. William Talbot); and his great- grandchildren, Alexandra, Oliver, Marjorie, Graham, Simon, Lucy, Finley, and Anne. Alistair is also survived by his sister Hannah (McKnight) and his brother David in Scotland and predeceased by his brothers William and James and his sister Margaret (Linford). The Finlayson family is very thankful for the kindness provided to Alistair at the Wellington Retirement Home in Hamilton and the Cardiac Care Unit at the Henderson. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Alistair's life at 2:00 on Saturday November 7, 2009 at Mundell's Funeral Chapel, 79 West Street North, Orillia.
