GROSSMAN, Alexander E.
Peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Alex, beloved husband of Genia. Loving father and father-in-law of Lili Birenzweig, and George and Kitty. Much loved Saba of Yoram and Haley, Leora and Sam, Justine, and Elissa. Loving great- grandfather of Eva. Founding partner of Belmont Construction, with Abraham Bleeman and the late Joe Silver. Alex helped build Belmont into one of the pre- eminent real estate companies with over a 50 year history from its inception in the 1950's to the 1990's and on. Alex was a pillar of strength in community affairs with his passionate and tireless leadership in Jewish, Toronto and national causes, and, of course, support of his beloved Israel. Among his many championed causes were State of Israel Bonds, Shaare Zedek Hospital, United Jewish Appeal, The Jewish Community Centre, Baycrest Centre and countless community charities. Alex's dream led him to be a founder, with the late Gideon Ho usner, in forming Massuah - Institute for Holocaust Education based in Tel Yitzak, Israel. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Beth Tzedec Memorial Park.
