Passed away peacefully, on January 6, 2025, in his 88th year. Beloved husband to the late Sandra Moffatt. Loving father to Laurie (Glenn) Zavitz and Leslie (David) McGuire. Proud grandfather to Matthew, Caitlyn, and Cassie. Remembered by his sisters, Marnie Borer and Mary Robinson; and in-laws, Mary (Gary) Duncan, Susan (David) Schultz; and survived by many nieces and nephews. Alex was born in Brandon, Manitoba, and eventually moved to Galt, Ontario. He attended Galt Collegiate Institute and went onto study medicine at the University of Toronto. He earned his Medical Degree and was elected Class President of his graduating class. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a medical officer, which took him to Cold Lake, Alberta, Trenton, Ontario and many overseas missions. Alex set up a family practice in Scarborough and maintained that practice for many years. He then worked in Palliative Care at Providence Healthcare. Alex enjoyed many years skiing with family and his yearly ski trips with the boys! He always loved a good game of golf, but his precious time was spent with family at his cottage in Muskoka. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bridlewood Presbyterian Church (2501 Warden Ave., Scarborough) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18th.
