ALEXANDER TEMPORALE Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Alexander on September 18, 2025. Alex was known as a true gentleman, who lived his life with integrity and a quiet pride. His spirit will endure as a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. After graduating from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Architecture, Alex opened his first architectural firm in 1974, later founding ATA Architects Inc. Alex had a passion for heritage conservation and was a trusted voice in the field. Over the course of his distinguished career, Alex was named a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, one of the profession's highest honours. Family remained the centre of Alex's life. With his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy, he built a close and loving family. He was a proud father to Todd (Anne-Marie), Blake (Aileen), and Kirsten (Craig); and doting grandfather to Delphine, Hugo, Paola, Gabrielle, Lucie Jane, and Margot. When we go back to Nantucket, a piece of Alex will always be with us. We'll breathe in the sweet island air and think of all the times we had smiling and basking in that warm Nantucket glow. He will be deeply missed, always loved and forever held dear in the hearts of those he leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, please donate in Alexander's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.

I will always remember Alex for his architectural passion and professor in charge style, the one who found raison d´être for the work. Is it beautiful? - Does it speak to a different time? He would ask. He saved a 50´s gas-bar station sweeping roof because it was a feat of architectural wonder. He saved the clapboard houses of Meadowvale and a neo-Georgian mansion out numbered by the industrial lakeside of things. He gave me a chance and believed in me, and stood up for his young team of computer drawing wizards. His work spread out to the greater community of form and social events all the while looking over the downtown Oakville square as witness to great things below and beyond.
