ALICE DAVIS Obituary
(November 27, 1937 - February 11, 2026) In her 89th year, with her children at her side, and after a brief illness, Alice Marjorie Davis died peacefully. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; five older siblings; and parents, Alicia (Coffey) and Wallace Lillie. Alice lived with strength and independence to her end. Alice was born in Toronto, attended Brown Public School and North Toronto High School, and joined Bell Canada in 1956. She and Ralph were married on June 7, 1958, and lived a full life together for almost 61 years. They travelled extensively through most of Europe, and in Russia, China, Japan, Egypt, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. They made friends everywhere they went and were a team until Ralph died on February 7, 2019. Alice loved to play bridge and was a voracious reader. She read the newspaper every day and loved a good discussion about world events. She was a lifelong learner, taking continuing education courses at the University of Toronto and Learning Unlimited. She loved theatre, opera and symphony. She deeply valued her friends. Over their lifetime, Ralph and Alice owned two cottages on Lake of Bays. When they worked, they spent every weekend there and in retirement, weeks at a stretch. They generously shared the cottage with family and friends, and it was a place of laughter and fun. Many happy memories were made there. After breaking her hip in 2023, Alice set herself the goal of dancing at her granddaughter's wedding, which she achieved in September of last year. Alice is survived by her two children, Ian and Lili (Davis-Burchat); daughter and son-in-law, Shannon (McKenna) and Michael (Burchat); and grandchildren, Sarah Lasby (Jacob), Ben and Owen Davis. Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the summer of 2026. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Scott Mission of Toronto.
