ALLAN MacKAY GUNN It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Allan MacKay Gunn. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Mary Patricia (née Smith); a cherished father to Lesley (Christian) and Andrew (Ilana); and the best Grampie to Zoe, Grace, Lucas, and Kai. Born on February 23, 1943, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to Donald and Jesse Gunn, he began his career with the Royal Bank and later joined Sun Life Assurance in the group division, where he served for 34 years before retiring. His career took his family from Halifax to Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Hamilton. Throughout this time, he and Pat enjoyed traveling around the world for conferences as well as family vacations, and they cherished relaxing at their cottage in Nova Scotia. Al had a zest for life that included a passion for golf, which he nurtured at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. Above all else, he loved his family, and was the heart and soul of it. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada for those who wish. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Wyndham Long Term Care Home in Oakville, Canada.
