Allan HART Obituary

ALLAN HART (Dr. Robert Allan Hart) June 29, 1937 December 16, 2023 Son of Harry L. and Eileen Hart. Predeceased by his sister, Patti Cleghorn. Allan was a devoted and loyal husband of 62 years to Georgia (Somerville); and loving father to his children, David, Gillian (Ian) Crassweller, Martha (Colin) McDougall and Jonathan (Michele). He was a loving granddad to Kennedy, Ethan, Hallie, Jamie, Molly, Peter, Heather, Abigail and Hannah. Allan attended Bedford Park Public School and University of Toronto Schools (UTS), before attending medical school at the University of Toronto. Allan devoted over 45 years as a valued and respected doctor at North York General Hospital in Toronto. He was known for extending professionalism, kindness and empathy towards each of his patients, as well as having a keen wit and a lovable comradery with everyone he worked with. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of University Hospital in London, Ontario, for their caring and compassion, as well as to the caregivers of Amica London. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you would consider a donation to North York General Foundation. Please state in memory of Dr. Robert Allan Hart. Georgia -- so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. My kids (also alumni of Bedford Park) remember running into the two of you in SoHo restaurant on Yonge Street on many Friday evenings, and I always enjoyed my professional interactions with him as well. Best, Les Lilly

My deepest condolences to Georgia and the family. I will always remember Allan and the wonderful times we had on many annual golf trips to our friend, Tom Devitt´s place in Florida. We also did gourmet cooking together at our monthly Marmitons gastronomy group, again with Tom, who was Allan´s childhood friend. Allan was an excellent and dedicated gastroenterologist, whose patients loved him. May his memory be a blessing. God bless.

Dear Georgia,
When I first joined NYGH in 1976 the first social event of that fall was a cocktail party in your own home. Allan went out of his way to take me by the shoulder and introduce me to many of the attendees. Allan was a fixture every weekday morning in `his´ chair in the doctors´ lounge sitting beside Tom Devitt and trading tall stories. I truly miss these stalwart members of our hospital.
