- Our shining light has burned out. A great man and a great Canadian has passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Son of Louis and Lilly Lindenbaum (of blessed memory). Doting husband to the beautiful Joanna Maxwell Linden. Adored, treasured father to Wendy (Stephen Firestone), Lisa (Andrew Wiseman) and Robyn (David Weinberger), very proud and cherished grandfather of Adam (of blessed memory), Sarah, Benji, Danya, Julia, Ethan and Tessa, loving sibling to Sidney (Beverley) and Sandra, loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Joanna's children Kelly, Lisa and Paul Maxwell (Will) and sister Mary Adams will also miss him dearly. Friend, teacher, mentor, colleague and shining example to so many. A very proud Officer of the Order of Canada. An esteemed and frequently cited jurist, scholar, author and law reformer. The Hon. Allen M. Linden emerged from an immigrant family from the Kensington Market area. Student of Landsdowne P.S., Vaughan Rd. C.I., University of Toronto, UC, Osgoode Hall Law School, University of California, Berkeley (where he studied tort law with the great Fleming and Prosser). At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
